Strictly Business is the sixth episode of the first season of the Starz original crime drama BMF.[1] It aired on October 31, 2021.

Synopsis[]

Meech and Terry create a new system for "The 50 Boyz" to operate more efficiently, while a secret within their ranks threatens to tear the crew apart.

Plot[]

Meech pulls up to the store, where Curly and a couple other kids ask him to buy them a 40. However, Meech grabs them soda instead. By the time he returns, the kids are gone, but Lamar is awaiting his return, armed with a double barrel shotgun. Fortunately, a couple of Meech's armed guards open fire and chase Lamar off.

Meech and Terry argue over just how they're going to move their dope. Terry wants to use the usual system, but Meech argues that they don't have the body or time. Not to mention that Tiny is down for a brick and that he's introducing Meech to his cousin Que from the north end, which will grow their business even more.

Meech and Terry have purchased a record store as a front for their business and hired a girl named Brit to work the register. This is where Meech meets up with Que, who is reluctant to work with Meech after hearing that he snaked his last plug. So for the time being, he isn't interested in working with Meech.

Terry asks Mr. Ryan for a spot in the college fair, but the event is for juniors and seniors. Looking to help Terry out, Mr. Ryan agrees to allow Terry to help him set up the event, and in return, he'll introduce Terry to some admission directors, including his old college roommate who represents Western Michigan University.

Lamar waits outside of Terry's school, however, he is unable to act, as Terry has protection.

Meech and Nicole knock on Lucille's bedroom door, but she has locked herself inside and refuses to come out after discovering that Terry is selling drugs with Meech.

At the Southwestern Pentecostal Church, where Tiny has been staying, Pastor Swift warns him against bringing girls inside and smoking weed. In exchange for his discretion, Tiny pays Pastor Swift, who then heads upstairs to pay Charles for bringing by some items. Meech arrives and informs Charles that Lucille needs help.

Charles looks to Terry for answers regarding what's wrong with Lucille. Terry reveals that she found out that he's been selling drugs with Meech, who tries to explain that something happened, and given that they could potentially be in danger, Meech suggests that their dad take their mom and sister to Ohio until everything calms down, but Charles refuses. After Charles and Nicole leave, Terry reminds Meech that this is his fault for kidnapping Zoe.

When Lamar attempts to rally 12th Street for an attack on Meech and Terry, Tiny pulls a gun on Lamar, with support from the rest of the crew, who have all rallied against Lamar. Detective Bryant's arrival deescalates the situation. Bryant has come to simply warn Lamar that his stupidity will be the reason for his demise.

Charles asks Terry what he and Meech did that would require them to leave the house. However, before he can answer, they are joined by Meech, who Charles isn't exactly happy to see.

Meech and Terry meet in the car, where Meech reveals that Que passed on them and that Pat has been bad-mouthing them. With that in mind, Terry wants to go back to selling 50s, but Meech is against it. Terry proposes an alternative — that they franchise out to their group and give them each a bag, which they can get their own people to move. Meech is in agreement, insists that only B-Mickie get a brick. They'll split the rest two-two.

Lamar is outraged that Tiny has rallied the crew against him. He's also upset with Slick for giving up the stash to Meech and Terry. Slick assures Lamar that he can get everything back, including his family, but he has to start thinking straight. And after that, they two of them can cut off Meech and Terry for good. Lamar likes Slick's thinking, but warns him that if this goes wrong, Meech and Terry won't be the only people with a problem.

B-Mickie and Kato have sex, but they are interrupted by Terry, forcing Kato to hide in the back. First, Terry asks about the situation with Jay Mo. B-Mickie explains that the gun he used got tossed in a river, a separate river from where he dumped the body. Terry then gives him a brick with the promise of showing him love on the price. He also needs B-Mickie's help with cooking up two more bricks. On his way out, Terry notices Kato's jacket on the couch, though he doesn't mention it.

Lamar shows up at Monique's hoping for another chance, but she refuses to let him in. And when she threatens to file a restraining order, he becomes enraged and grabs her through the bars, but she escapes his grasp and locks the door. Lamar frantically bangs on the cage and door, only stopping when he notices Zoe watching from the window.

Terry and B-Mickie have cooked up the bricks and broken them down to hand out to the crew, essentially making them independent contractors.

Terry arrives late to the college fair, where Mr. Ryan awaits with one of the admission directors. He introduces Terry to his former roommate and Western Michigan University director, Mr. Tolbert, who asks to know more about Terry. However, he's too overwhelmed by drama in the street and excuses himself. As Terry leaves, Mr. Ryan warns him to get his head in the game before he wrecks his future.

Meech meets with Tiny, who he sold a brick for scraps in exchange for Tiny putting him on with his cousin. However, Que no longer wants to deal with Meech after hearing something. Meech warns Tiny to get Que back in or else their deal is over. And so, Tiny assures Meech that he'll talk to his cousin tomorrow at the gambling spot.

Lucille finally comes out of her room after hearing Charles play his steel guitar. She reveals that both of their boys are wrapped in the street and that she feels like a failure. Charles believes that Meech is a lost cause, whereas they can still save Terry by taking the settlement money from the hospital and sending him to a school down south.

Dink has hired a handful of young corner boys to move his weight, and when they say that they're hungry, he and Kato agree to make a Coney run. Unfortunately, after they leave, Lamar steals their dope from the kid.

Dink and the crew report back to Terry after word spreads that his work was stolen by Lamar, which Terry blames Dink for. He accuses them all of threatening the integrity of a name that he worked so hard to build. And when Terry grabs Dink, Meech intervenes and pulls him into the kitchen. Meech informs Terry that they aren't the 50 Boyz anymore and that they've since graduated from that. With Lamar constantly pressing them, Meech wants his security detail pulled in hopes of getting a chance to kill Lamar himself. As for the bricks, Meech and Tiny are going to meet Que tomorrow to seal the deal.

The next day, Lucille and Charles call Karen over to tell her that they're prepared to accept the $25,000 offer the hospital made. However, Karen tells them that the offer has already been rescinded, as it had a time limit. Charles blames her for not informing them sooner and calls her a conniving rookie lawyer. Karen excuses herself and tells them that her assistant will send over the termination of representation paperwork.

Kato asks B-Mickie about his gun, the same one she always sees him with. He explains that it saved his mother from an abusive relationship, watched over him countless nights, crossing enemy territory, and sealed countless deals. To him, it's more than a gun, it's family. Kato then prepares to leave, and B-Mickie volunteers to join her, asking what exactly are they.

Nicole invites Darius inside the house, where he asks her to be his girlfriend, to which she agrees. Just as they're about to kiss, Terry comes home and kicks Darius out. Terry confronts Nicole, who reveals that she invited Darius inside because they can't get any privacy with the guards around. Nicole feels like she's in prison and asks when this all will be over.

Slick returns home and begins packing a bag before he becomes Lamar's next victim. However, he then hears Lamar singing and finds him down the hall. Lamar reveals that it didn't go well with Monique, making him realize that family is most important, above all. So, he intends to kill someone Terry and Meech cares about. Slick questions if that's a good idea. Lamar doesn't reply. He simply continues singing You can't stop the rain while stabbing Slick, who crawls out into the living room and bleeds out on the floor as Lamar watches.

Kato brings B-Mickie home, and while she's taking out the trash, B-Mickie finds a note from someone saying that they need to talk. Rather than confronting Kato, he pockets the note. He then notices her postcard of the Renaissance Center, which she explains is the symbol of Detroit and offers to take him there for dinner.

Meech attends the gambling party along with Tiny. After scoring big, he links up with Que, who finally agrees to do business with Meech after he expresses his plans to take over Detroit and then the world.

Terry returns home, where he is confronted by Charles and Lucille. They ask how long he's been selling drugs. Terry reveals that he's been doing so ever since Meech started, as he was tired of struggling. Lucille argues that poverty isn't a scapegoat for immorality. However, Terry stands his ground. Between him and Meech, they have more money than they'll ever need. But Lucille argues that they must be doing more than selling drugs, otherwise they wouldn't be in danger. Lucille is worried for Terry's soul and warns him that not even she can protect him from that.

Tiny returns home with a girl, but she screams upon noticing blood on the couch. Tiny turns on the light and discovers Slick's body behind the couch.

Meech and Terry arrange another meeting with the crew, but this time at the record store, where Terry reveals that the 50 Boyz are no more. What they do with the work is up to them, so long as they come back with the loot. Meech brands them as "The Family" moving forward.

B-Mickie tells Meech that he's tired of being left in the dark. Meech and Terry bought a record store and he didn't know anything about it, but Meech reminds Mickie that he was MIA and that they needed a spot to post up in. Furthermore, Meech tells B-Mickie that while he's his boy for life, the structure of their crew will never change. But on the bright side, with the price they're giving B-Mickie, he can make his own money on the side.

Meech approaches Terry about not giving B-Mickie a key as promised, instead he sold it to him. Terry explains that simply giving B-Mickie a key would've made him feel equal with them, which he simply isn't. Terry then reveals that B-Mickie is also hooking up with Kato.

Kato demands to know why B-Mickie stood her up. He opens the glove box and shows her the note from her house that says "Quit ducking. We need to talk." B-Mickie is under the impression that she's hooking up with someone else, but Kato reveals that her ex keeps hitting her up about drug money, and she's been avoiding him. B-Mickie is relieved and tells Kato that as long as she's with him, she has nothing to worry about. He then tells her that he's been considering leaving Meech and Terry to work for himself. Kato replies that she's with him 100% before kissing B-Mickie.

Nicole and Darius walk home together. He kisses her, but she pulls away after noticing Meech's guard following them. So, they run down an alley to lose him, where they run into Lamar. When he grabs Nicole and tries to put her in his car, Darius intervenes, and Lamar stabs him twice. Nicole goes running for help and returns to find Darius bleeding out on the ground.
