See It... Touch It... Obtain It is the first episode of the first season of the Starz original crime drama BMF. It aired on September 26, 2021.
Synopsis[]
Meech avoids a street war by moving his crew "The 50 Boyz" to a new location. He and his brother Terry cook up a more potent batch of drugs that creates enough demand to help their family overcome the economic crisis.
Plot[]
Detroit, 2005, Big Meech returns home for the first time in years, where he runs into Roland, who embraces him. In honor of his return, Roland throws a block party for Meech to show his appreciation for all that Meech and Terry have accomplished. Roland compares them to kings and rock stars.
Flashback to his childhood, Meech's father, Charles, comes downstairs to find teenage Meech and Terry in the kitchen, standing in the doorway with the refrigerator open. He instructs Terry to close the fridge door and then tells Meech to be on time for his first day at work. On his way out, Charles kisses Lucille goodbye and leaves with Nicole.
Back in the kitchen, both Meech and Terry struggle to light the stove. Lucille joins them and questions why Terry has yet to get dressed for school. He explains that they don't have any hot water and that they're out of milk. Unfortunately for Tee, Lucille instructs him to use the rest of Meech's milk.
Outside a local convenience store, Terry confronts Meech after learning that he lied to their parents about having gotten a job at Wendy's, when in fact, he's going to the rock house. Terry is desperate to join him, but Meech turns him down. When Pat pulls up, Tee attempts to strong-arm his way into the deal, but just like Meech before him, Pat turns him away, as he can only pay for one. However, Meech has a last minute change of heart and calls Terry over to join him in the car.
Detroit, 1980-something, Meech and Terry pull up outside of the Cobo Arena to meet with the 12th Street Boys. Tee reveals that he arranged for them to meet at the area due to the heavy police presence and metal detectors in place because of the championship game, meaning 12th Street will be unarmed. However, Terry has paid off one of his friends to help sneak a gun inside the arena. Jay Mo, Filmel, and Slick confront Meech and Terry after learning that they were inching closer into 12th Street territory. Jay Mo warns them to fall back or else there will be war. Instead, Meech proposes they pull their resources together, but 12th Street isn't interested in an alliance or a negotiation. Initially, Meech is prepared to go to war, but when Terry pulls a gun as a show of force and Filmel confronts him, Meech rethinks his stance, and as a show of good faith, he decides to pull back and give them the area near the funeral home.
Meech and Tee return home, where Meech confronts his younger brother for pulling a gun during a meeting. He reminds Terry that shooting guns is more so his lane and that he nearly messed up everything for them. However, Tee is concerned that them giving up the territory where they were making over half their earnings will make them look weak. But as Meech reminds Tee, they don't have enough men for a war, not to mention the unwanted attention it would draw from the law. The real move is taking over the game, but they can't do that so long as they're getting dope consignment from Pat. Meech is in agreement, but he's more concerned at the moment with the gun Tee has brought into the house and tells him to get rid of it, just narrowly avoiding a confrontation with their mother as she enters the room and tells them dinner is ready.
Meech, Terry, Nicole, and Charles gather around the table as Lucille approaches with a pot of lasagna. Before saying grace, Charles reminds Meech about looking proper at the dinner table, in reference to Meech's chain, which he removes. Despite it being Meech's turn to, Charles instructs Tee to say grace. Nicole then reminds their mother that she needs money for her Boblo trip, however, given that their family is short on funds, Meech offers to pay for the trip, but Charles doesn't want any of his drug money. Hoping to change the subject to a less sensitive topic, Lucille asks Terry about school, who Charles insists better be on the honor roll again. Meech then excuses himself, claiming that he needs some air.
Lamar Silas, fresh from out of jail, arrives at Big Coney Island Restaurant in search of Duka, who, unbeknownst to him, had been moved to their new location in Lincoln Park. When the manager asks him to step to the side, Lamar slams his head into the counter and instructs him to tell Duka that "Lamar Silas is back in town." When Lamar returns, he expects things to go back to the way they were. Jay Mo and Filmel watch from a booth as this unfolds, just before Lamar exits the diner.
Meech arrives at the hideout, where they've set up shop in the back of a barbershop. There, he is confronted by Pat, who's heard of his run-in with 12th Street and how Meech gave up territory, which is unacceptable. Pat believes that Meech should've fought them. He advises Meech to handle it and do so quickly given that Lamar Silas just returned after doing a bid. With the competition thickening, Meech has to do whatever necessary to protect their assets.
Meech and Terry meet with the crew, the 50 Boyz, in their recently acquired location, which just so happens to be in 12th Street territory. However, they are interrupted by Ms. Griffin, who is well aware of their intentions and instructs them to leave.
Meech approaches his old baseball coach, Detective Bryant and asks a favor of him. He's looking to start his own game at the Ecorse Rec Center. The only problem is that there isn't any "shelter on the field," and he would like for Bryant to take care of the "umpire," that being Ms. Griffin.
While in class, Terry gets into an altercation with another student named Kwamé, who takes several shots at Tee, referencing his pregnant girlfriend. This ultimately results in Tee shoving Kwamé before being kicked out of class.
Meech returns home to find his mother and father sitting in the living room with Tee's gun, which they've assumed belongs to Meech. Charles takes a much more aggressive approach than Lucille and kicks Meech out the house. Tee arrives but neglects to claim the gun as his. Meech willfully takes on the blame and reveals to his father that their house is in foreclosure because they're behind on the mortgage, which Meech could help with, but Charles refuses to accept his money, slapping Meech's hand away. Meech, in response, takes a swing at Charles, who blocks his attack before placing him in a chokehold and warning him to never raise his fist to him again. When Charles finally releases him, Meech exits hastily.
Meech heads over to Monique's, where the two have sex, and afterwards discuss Meech's living situation. She questions why he still lives at home when all he and his parents ever do is fight. Meech replies that it's how they show their love, which by Monique's account is dysfunctional.
While Meech makes a call, Monique goes to answer the door. It's Lamar, who she hasn't seen in two years. However, he's simply come to see his daughter, but Monique claims that Zoe isn't his, though it is unclear just how true this is. So, Monique tells Lamar that she'll consider allowing him to see Zoe after he gets back on his feet. Before leaving, he hands Monique a bracelet and asks her to give it to Zoe.
Lamar parks his car across the street from Monique's house and watches as Meech exits. As Meech crosses the street, Lamar bumps him with his car and warns him to stay away from Monique.
Southwest Detroit, River Rouge, and Ecorse-- pretty much on top of each other. You can be on the corner in Rouge, cross the street, now you in Ecorse. You go up one block from that, now you in Detroit. A bunch of different dudes used to run a lot of different sections. This one man used to terrorize the entire area, pushing H and robbing all the dealers till he got popped on an assault charge. When Lamar went away, Visger became the hottest block in the area. The 12th Street Boys had the bottom near the shrimp joint popping. We had 19th Street by the store. While both crews was beefing all over all the streets in between, Lamar's lawyer was running an insanity defense, which got him four years in the nuthouse instead of the big house. Then Reagan started emptying the mental-health facilities, so the man who used to reign over the region was back at the crib after two. And the first thing he sees is me with his ex. But the thing that really pissed Lamar off was all the corners he used to run were now 12th Street and ours. And he was willing to do anything to get things back to the way they used to be.
Charles confronts Lucille about the mortgage. He questions where all the money is going if they're behind on the house. Lucille explains that she has to pay all the bills, as well as buy food and clothes. And it's never enough, which is why she went out and got the job at Wendy's, which was going fine until the car broke down, and they had to get it fixed, resulting in them falling behind. Given their current dilemma, Charles doesn't think they'll be able to send Nicole on her field trip, but Lucille refuses to allow her to suffer because of their mess. She exclaims that she's sick of living like this, but Charles insists that he'll figure it out. All he asks is that she trust him. Charles then kisses Lucille and carries her upstairs in his arms.
Terry arrives at his and Lawanda's baby shower with B-Mickie and Sockie. Unfortunately, his mom and Nicole have not yet arrived. She asks him to sit down and meet her family, but Tee doesn't plan on staying. Even though he paid for the food and decorations, Lawanda wants to enjoy the shower with the father of her child, but Tee leaves nonetheless.
Detective Bryant pulls Ms. Griffin over under the claim that she was speeding. He then shows her a small bag of coke that he allegedly confiscated from her son, who's a senior at Saint Martin de Porres. A possession charged would stop any decent college from accepting him. However, Detective Bryant is willing to make a deal. All he needs from her is to leave the rec center alone. In return, he'll leave her son alone.
When Meech goes back home to pick up some clothes, he finds Lucille sitting in his room. She encourages Meech to either set a better example for Terry or leave him alone altogether, as he looks up to Meech. They've done all they can for Meech, having put him through school only for him to drop out and found him employment, only for him to quit. However, Meech reasons that working fast food isn't a life he wants for himself. Meech was brought up to believe that the Lord works in mysterious ways and suggests that his drug money just may be that "mysterious way" to solving all their problems. However, Lucille still can't accept it.
Meech and Terry organize another meeting with the crew near the rec center. While waiting in the bleachers, Kato gets into a argument with some of the guys, mainly Sockie, after they learn that she's been cutting prices down on their product. Meech and Tee remind Kato of their name, "Fifty Boyz." No matter what, they sell $50 bags of crack. Either Kato come to terms with that or she can leave. Meech advises Kato to learn how to play her position, but Tee is disappointed to see that Meech is letting Kato slide without any severe repercussions for going against the brand. Furthermore, he is also against the move to the rec center without any kind of marketing plan. B-Mickie, however, is in agreement with Kato about the streets no longer buying their $50 bags. Tee takes that into consideration as B-Mickie reveals that the biggest flophouse in Ecorse is Pumpkin. He compares her to the E. F. Hutton of crack. Whenever she talks, the other junkies listen. So, Tee suggests they use the remaining shake they have to cook up a new batch. They'll step on it less and hit it with a new stamp to give to Pumpkin, who can spread the word.
With his parents out for the night, Meech and Tee coke up the new work at B-Mickie's house and give it to Pumpkin, who spreads word about their new work. Ms. Griffin watches helplessly as Meech and the 50 Boyz take over the area.
Meech, Tee, B-Mickie, Kato, and Hoop arrive at Pat's party. They are greeted by K-9, who tells them to get with him if they're ever over at Brewster's. The five of them then proceed to enter Club Taboo, where Meech makes eye contact with Monique from across the bar.
Lamar spots Meech and the 50 Boyz as they enter the club, however, he does not approach, only continuing to watch from afar until Jay Mo, Filmel, and Slick approach and makes him an offer to join his crew, but Lamar declines, which doesn't come as a surpise to Filmel, who claims it was bad idea from the jump, as Lamar's still institutionalized.
Terry gets into a confrontation with Kwamé and a few of his guys, until Meech intervenes, coming to Tee's defense and sending Kwamé and his crew retreating. After witnessing their near-fight with Kwamé and his crew, Markisha comes over and tells them that they look too good to be fighting. Meech and Tee then join Pat in his section, where he introduces them to Boom and his wife, Markisha, who the boys just met moments before.
Meech and Terry pull Pat outside to talk business, specifically a re-up and even a brick of powder. However, with Pat having just supplied them a week before, he encourages the boys to slow down, as they're selling too fast, and he believes that they're asking for more than they can handle.
After being turned down by Pat, Meech and Terry discuss their next course of action. Meech has finally decided that it's time to be their own bosses. However, they don't want to cross Pat in the process. That said, Meech is still willing to take what he must in order to become the rightful kings of Detroit.
LaWanda has given birth to her and Terry's child. She is joined in the hospital by the entire Flenory family. While holding the toddler, Meech and Charles remark that he resembles his father and that he has "them Flenory feet, too."
Two days later, Terry brings LaWanda and the baby home after they are released from the hospital. Immediately following their return, Tee gets a call from Meech, who reminds him that they have a meeting to attend. Tee kisses LaWanda goodbye and heads for the car. As he's searching for the baby's pacifier, an unknown assailant walks up to the car and opens fire, shooting Tee in the face with a single round. LaWanda exits the house to find him on the ground bleeding. She rushes over to him and screams for help.
