Love All, Trust Few is the third episode of the first season of the Starz original crime drama BMF.[1] It aired on October 10, 2021.
Synopsis[]
Meech and Terry set up an undercover operation using a food truck to sell drugs to factory workers; Detective Lopez investigates a murder at the center of the city's drug war.
Plot[]
Young Terry is cooking a burger in the kitchen when Meech discovers that Terry has used nearly all the ground beef for himself. This leads to a fight, which ultimately results in the boys knocking over a cabinet full of mother's good china, whilst Nicole dances in the living room. In fear of punishment, they decide to Krazy Glue the broken plates together. However, Lucille returns home and whoops both of them with a belt.
Pat cuts Meech off in traffic and confronts him for being late on payment. Meech reminds Pat that he's been busy with Tee's shooting, though Pat isn't interested in his excuses. Meech begins to hallucinate and looks over to see Jay Mo in Pat's place, but he quickly returns to reality when Pat brandishes a gun and gives Meech six days to bring his money with a 10% interest. Once Meech exits the car, Rock remarks that Meech is never going to be able to climb out of this, to which Pat replies that's the point, in order to keep them from ever climbing from under him.
The Flenorys host a welcome home party for Terry, in which Pastor Swift is invited. The family form a circle with Pastor Swift leading the prayer, though Charles seems suspicious of the pastor, who clutches Lucille's hand in prayer. Pastor Swift reminds the Flenorys just how fortunate they are, as Terry not only survived, but is recovering. However, when the Pastor learns that Terry is in jeopardy of losing sight in one of his eyes, he recommends them to see his niece Karen, who just graduated from the University of Michigan Law. She'd be happy to look at their case of a contingency basis. Meech then shows up unexpectedly, and Charles pulls him to the side, asking for the keys back, as he no longer lives in the house. Lucille then invites Pastor Swift to join them for breakfast.
Meech and Terry meet up to discuss possibly splitting the profits 50/50. However, they have bigger concerns, as they first have to get Pat back his money in six days with 10% interest. Terry recalls an article he read about drugs use at the power plants. The factory workers are clearly in search of high-quality dope, which Terry suggests they supply. With very few options, Meech agrees to put B-Mickie on it. Speaking of whom, Terry asks why B-Mickie didn't stop by to visit him at the hospital, but Meech simply says that he's fine.
12th Street is without leadership; Jay Mo is missing and Filmel is in the hospital after being beaten within an inch of his life. Some suspect that the 50 Boyz are behind this, and while Tiny and others seek to retaliate, Lamar has a plan in mind, with Slick backing him, telling the guys to fall back in the meantime. Tiny concedes, but only until Filmel's return.
Charles returns from work to learn from Lucille that they're out of time with the bank and that an extra shift here and there won't cut it. There's a knock at the door, it's Detectives Bryant and Lopez, who have come to question Terry about his shooting, but he insists that he doesn't remember anything. Lopez questions the fact that Terry arrived at the hospital in a Mercedes-Benz, suspecting that his shooting may have been retaliatory. Charles too is inquisitive about the car, which LaWanda lies and claims that the car was a baby shower gift from her Uncle Troy. Lucille doesn't appreciate how they're questioning Terry as if he's a suspect and asks them to leave.
Lopez confronts Bryant for possibly protecting the Flenorys. Lopez also suspects that Terry was shot because of the ongoing drug war in the city. Bryant doesn't take well to his accusations and warns Lopez to never accuse him of anything, or else he's going to beat Lopez like he stole something.
B-Mickie and Kato post up outside the plant with the 50 Boyz but are struggling to make a single sell. Kato asks if he's going to Terry's surprise party at the bowling alley, but B-Mickie isn't sure, as he isn't fond of bowling. They are then approached by the plant security, who suspects that Kato is a whore and B-Mickie is her pimp. He threatens to call the police should he return and see them still on the corner.
Lamar plays a game of Monopoly with Zoe, taking away much of her property, explaining that she has the best corners. Monique then instructs Zoe to go do her homework, but not before giving Lamar a hug, who she refers to as "dad." Moving forward, Monique asks for a heads-up whenever Lamar plans on coming over. She fears that he could get sent away again, breaking Zoe's heart yet again, but Lamar assures her that he won't allow anything to happen to either of them.
Meech is disappointed to learn that B-Mickie and Kato have yet to sell a single bag, having wasted an entire day. Just then, he notices the plant workers going on break, all headed towards the food truck parked on the lot. He goes over to Fonzo, a food truck driver, who is parked just off the lot, as he refuses to pay the $500 permit required.
At the Ecorse Police Department, Lopez informs Bryant that Jay Mo's mother hasn't seen or heard from him in days, but Bryant claims he's never heard of Jay Mo. Captain Ward then calls them into the war room, where he introduces them to Commander Marceline Beckwith, Michigan State Police. She's their new division head. Everyone one of their drug cases goes through her now, including the Flenory file. Commander Beckwith explains that the state police have initiated the Downriver Area Narcotics Operations, otherwise known as DRANO. Ecorse PD will be joining her and other officers to ID and dismantle local drug organizations. For the next 18 months, they will have more authority, reach, and respect than they ever dreamed off.
Meech and Terry approach Fonzo with a proposition to sell drugs from his truck in exchange for paying for his permit to sell on the factory lot and paying him off weekly. When Terry refers to his truck as a "roach coach," Fonzo grabs a knife, but Meech manages to keep the two separated and negotiate an arrangement. Fonzo would eventually like to open his own restaurant, and the money he'll make from aligning himself with Meech will allow him to do just that.
Lamar visits Filmel in the hospital, where he lies in bed with a broken arm and leg. He attempts to call for a nurse, but Lamar intervenes and threatens to kill Filmel unless he promises to leave town as soon as he's released from the hospital. Lamar applies so much pressure to Filmel that he unintentionally pees himself.
Meech takes Terry to a strip club, but not to party with girls, rather for the working girls to tell him which of the factory workers like to smoke and get high. Pat has somehow managed to sneak up on them from behind and proceeds to confront Meech and Terry for presumably blowing his money. And so, he moves their delivery day up a day, giving them exactly three days to bring his money. Meech then gets the signal from one of the strippers to approach a factory worked named Keith, who Meech gives a sample to and instructs to look out for him tomorrow at the food trucks.
Charles returns home and joins LaWanda on the couch with baby Terry. He takes the baby in his arms and asks how parenthood has been treating her. Admittedly, she's exhausted. Charles used to put Meech and Terry in the car and drive around with them, which would put them right to sleep. He then asks about LaWanda's Mercedes and her alleged Uncle Troy, who LaWanda claims lives in Pontiac by the Silverdome. Terry returns, and Charles expresses how he would like to meet LaWanda's uncle. He then asks where Terry is coming from. LaWands covers for him yet again, claiming that he went out for some baby formula.
Lucille catches Meech smoking in his car just outside the house, which she has asked him not to do. Speaking of the house, Meech reveals that he paid the mortgage, which Lucille isn't happy to hear, as she knows that Charles won't react well. She tells Meech to say nothing to nobody and that she'll figure this out. While she loves him, one day, he's going to have to learn to listen to her.
Meech meets up with Fonzo and introduces him to B-Mickie and Kato, who will be working off the truck and serving "Stone Burgers." Kato notices some tension between Meech and B-Mickie and begins to question just how divided they really are. However, B-Mickie assures that any issues between himself and Meech are superficial; they may fight and curse at each other, but they're always family.
The lunch siren sounds and Meech links back up with Keith, who he directs to Fonzo's truck and tells to order a "Stone Burger" from B-Mickie and Kato.
Meech arrives at the spot to find Dink near a car, selling drugs to a white girl, which is strictly against their policies. The 50 Boyz never sell drugs to white people because they're either cops or would attract cops. He scolds Dink and calls for the crew to huddle up. They got two days to sell what's left of the work, and as a reward, he's gifting his Rolex to whoever sells the most in the next 48 hours.
Between the food truck and rec center, over the next two days, the 50 Boyz manage to hit their target to pay Pat back and have some left over to buy their own work. Detective Bryant pulls up and tells Meech and Terry to assume the position. He questions Meech about Jay Mo's whereabouts, as he was never supposed to kill him, but Meech insists that Jay Mo was alive when he last saw him. Meech suggests that maybe he was taken out by someone from 12th Street. Bryant takes that into consideration and warns the boys that there's a new drug task force being formed.
After Bryant leaves, Terry asks Meech what really happened to Jay Mo. Meech reveals that B-Mickie killed him. Terry is enraged that they've been lying to him and then asks about the body, which B-Mickie put in the river. If that body shows up, Terry fears it will ignite a war. And so, he demands that Meech split the cut 50/50 and treat him as an equal, or else he's out. Meech agrees, and now with that out the way, they need to ante up their loot and pay Pat back.
Meech arrives at the shop with Pat's money. Rock lets him in and warns Meech to knock first, as Pat and Junior are in the back with a couple women. Meech enters the back room to find Pat getting high off his own product, much to Meech's surprise. Meech hands Pat the money and leaves, still in shock by his discovery.
The 50 Boyz host Terry's surprise party at the bowling alley. LaWanda jokes that Terry looks cute with his eye patch "in a Slick Rick kind of way." Terry is then approached by his teacher, Mr. Ryan, who has brought him all his missed assignments. Terry then invites Mr. Ryan to join them, for which LaWanda accuses "Terry of Brown-nosing."
Meech arrives and tells Terry that they can talk about Pat after the party, but Terry wants to know now. He then sees Kato and asks where B-Mickie is, but she isn't sure, remarking that she's not his keeper. Terry has grown tired of the disrespect and demands to be treated like a boss. From here on out, he declares that the 50 Boyz will rule with an iron fist.
Kato exits the bathroom stall to find Lamar waiting. As it turns out, Kato has been working undercover for Lamar, having infiltrated the 50 Boyz. He wants to know everything she's learned. In return, he'll ensure they both get paid. Kato reveals that there's something going on between Meech and B-Mickie, but Lamar is more interested in whose holding and where they keep their weight and money. He then locks the bathroom door, refusing to let Kato out until she tells him what he wants to hear.
LaWanda tells Terry that she's ready to leave, but he isn't and passes her the keys to his car. Meech then notices 12th Street just a few lanes over, being led by Lamar, who Sockie suspects stomped out Filmel and who Tee suspects shot him. The two crews glare each other from across the alley before leaving.
Terry returns home only to realize that LaWanda is upset with him. She's tired of being treated as replaceable. She informs Terry how she lied to the police and his parents simply to protect him, and reminds him that they're partners who should be treated equally. Terry promises that he'll do better and then begins kissing LaWanda, but she says that she isn't in the mood to have sex.
Charles returns home from the bank, where he learned that their mortgage has been paid in full. He initially suspects that Lucille went to Pastor Swift, or as Charles refers to him, "Pastor Shifty," but Lucille reveals that Meech paid the mortgage and that she didn't know until it was too late. Charles is upset and tells Lucille to give the money back. When she explains that they can't, he exclaims that she's going to do what he tells her or else. Lucille takes offense to this, reminding Charles that he's her husband, not her father. Terry attempts to intervene, but Charles pushes him aside and hands over his keys before leaving the house.
Meech shows up at Monique's unannounced after she's been ignoring his calls all day. He wants to talk to her about Lamar, who unbeknownst to Meech is inside. Lamar then makes his presence known and warns Meech to leave before he gets hurt. When Lamar grabs Meech through the bars, Meech pulls out a gun, but Monique separates the two of them and tells Meech to leave.
