Catherine "Kato" Eda was She was Born May 15 1970
A fierce and ambitious corner girl, Kato was the only women in Meech and Terry's crew. Both a brilliant and troubled young woman, the Flenory brothers were the first to treat Kato like family. This birthed an urge in her to prove her trust and do right by them, however, she was also hiding a secret, that of her secretly working with Lamar to take down the 50 Boyz. In her pursuit, she would find herself falling for B-Mickie, who would ultimately end her life after learning the truth.
Biography[]
Flirting with B-Mickie[]
Kato is accosted by the crew after they learn that she's been cutting prices down on their product. Meech and Tee remind Kato of their name, "Fifty Boyz." No matter what, they sell $50 bags of crack. Either Kato comes to terms with that or she can leave. Meech advises Kato to learn how to play her position, but Tee is disappointed to see that Meech is letting Kato slide without any severe repercussions for going against the brand.[1]
Following Terry's shooting, with word on the street being that Jay Mo put the hit out, Kato and B-Mickie are sent to the stash house to move the work. Just as Kato notices that someone has been living in the house, she is tackled to the ground by a homeless man, causing the dope in her hand to fly everywhere, though Kato manages to hold her own and restrain the man. Having lost approximately six thousand dollars worth of dope, they have no choice but to tell Meech. Once Meech arrives, they cut the homeless man loose and relocate to B-Mickie's place, where B-Mickie flirts with Kato as she dances in his basement, but she tells him that it's never going to happen, as she's the one female in a crew of men. The worst thing she could do is get mixed up with one of them and lose whatever credibility and respect she has.[2]
Working for Lamar[]
Trying out a new sales method, Kato and B-Mickie post up outside the plant in an attempt to sell to the workers, but they are without much success, especially with the plant security accusing Kato of being a whore and B-Mickie a pimp. He threatens to call the police should he see them on the corner again. Fortunately, Meech comes up with a way for them to get by unnoticed, making a deal with one of the lunch truck workers, allowing the 50 Boyz to deal from his truck in exchange for paying his permit. Kato notices some tension between Meech and B-Mickie and begins to question just how divided they really are, though B-Mick claims it's nothing.
While attending Terry's party at the bowling alley, Kato is confronted by Lamar inside the ladies' restroom. As it turns out, Kato has been working undercover for Lamar. He wants to know everything she's learned. In return, he'll ensure they both get paid. He demands to know whose holding and where they keep their weight and money, locking the bathroom door until she tells him what he wants to hear.[3]
Kato and Hoop are working on the food truck when they receive an unexpected visit from 12th Street, who inform their non-drug using customers of the "Stone Burger" on the secret menu. This sends the crowd into a frenzy, forcing the 50 Boyz to close up shop early. The following day, they are out in large numbers at the factory as Kato and Hoop work the food truck. However, Hoop begins to wonder if Lamar showing up yesterday was merely a distraction. So he rushes to the stash house, where her gets into a shoot out with Lamar, who nearly kills him until Kato intervenes, shooting at Lamar and forcing him to flee. When Kato returns home, she is ambushed by Lamar, who accuses her of trying to kill him, though she swears on her father's grave that she only shot at him to make it look real. If not for her father, he would kill her, but Lamar does make a point to warn Kato never to point a gun at him again. Feeling vulnerable, Kato surprises B-Mickie with a visit and kisses him.[4]
Harboring Zoe[]
Kato is in bed with B-Mickie when she gets a call from Meech, who tells her to meet him at her place, where he instructs her to watch over Zoe. Kato then gets a call from Lamar, which she takes away from the listening ears of Meech and Terry. Lamar is frantic and asks Kato if she's heard anything about Zoe, but she claims that she hasn't. By the time Kato returns to the room, Meech and Terry are gone, having left her with Zoe. Lamar shows up at Kato's not long after and demands to know where Zoe is, suspecting that Kato is lying to him, but she insists that Zoe isn't there. Lamar checks every room in the house, but she is nowhere to be found. Unbeknownst to Lamar, Meech arrived just moments before and took Zoe.[5]
Kato asks B-Mickie about his gun, the same one she always sees him with. He explains that it saved his mother from an abusive relationship, watched over him countless nights, and sealed countless deals. The gun is basically family. Kato then prepares to leave, and B-Mickie volunteers to join her, asking what exactly are they. So Kato brings B-Mickie home, where he notices her postcard of the Renaissance Center, which she explains is the symbol of Detroit and offers to take him there for dinner. However, when the time comes, he never shows. She ultimately confronts him and demands to know why. B-Mickie shows her the note from her house that says "Quit ducking. We need to talk." He is under the impression that she's hooking up with someone else, but Kato reveals that her ex keeps hitting her up about drug money, and she's been avoiding him. B-Mickie is relieved and tells Kato that as long as she's with him, she has nothing to worry about. He then tells her that he's been considering leaving Meech and Terry to work for himself. Kato replies that she's with him 100% before kissing B-Mickie.[6]
Killing Detective Lopez[]
Kato watches from inside the store as cops arrive and place the crew in handcuffs. In order to blend in, she hides her 50 Boyz chain and ditches her fur coat to meet up with the rest of the crew and inform them of the recent arrests. With the cops applying pressure and the crew on a deadline, Meech and Terry decide to join them on the corners. However, when Meech is tackled to the ground by Detective Lopez, Kato sneaks up and bashes Lopez' head in from behind. Not sure what to do, Kato shows up at B-Mickie's in a panic. She grabs a bag to flee, but B-Mickie assures her that everything is going to be okay. They then proceed to have sex. Afterward, B-Mickie heads to the gas station to grab more papers.
While B-Mickie's gone, Lamar enters. He agrees to spare B-Mickie in exchange for Kato killing Meech. He reminds Kato that she owes him, as he caught a body for her and took the charge. Should she fail, Lamar threatens to kill her. However, that's not her only problem, as B-Mickie catches Lamar leaving. Gun drawn on her, he demands to know the truth. She reveals that she's been working for Lamar. He and her dad used to run together. After he died, Kato found herself in a jam. Lamar took care of the body and ate the charge. B-Mickie accuses Kato of playing him. In the beginning, it was for Lamar, but she insists that her feelings for B-Mickie and the 50 Boyz are genuine. Kato convinces him to put down the gun and asks for his help in killing Lamar.[7]
Setting up Lamar[]
Kato meets up with Lamar and falsely informs him that security will be light on Meech tomorrow when he goes to meet his new plug at the repair shop. B-Mickie intends to follow Lamar and kill him, but he is pulled over and arrested, as is Kato and the rest of the crew, who are all brought in for questioning regarding the death of Detective Lopez, but later released, at which point, Meech tells Kato to come with him and asks her about her past. Kato and her mom used to get into it all the time, to where she ended up moving from Tennessee to stay with her pops when she was 13 years old. He used to hustle everything, and she'd chill with him and his crew, the BK, aka the Black Killers.
Kato reconvenes with B-Mickie, who missed his shot to kill Lamar due to being arrested, though B-he suggests using the shot they already have. Kato told Lamar that Meech was meeting with the plug tonight, and B-Mick will show up instead. So that night, Lamar sneaks around the repair shop, where he discovers that Kato was indeed trying to set him up and goes to confront her. With his gun pressed against her, he leads Kato out the bar, where he is confronted by Meech and B-Mickie. Lamar holds a gun to Kato's head, but that doesn't stop Meech from opening fire. B-Mickie chases after Kato and holds her at gunpoint. Kato tells B-Mickie that she loves him, but he pulls the trigger, shooting her once in the chest and again in the head.[8]
