Biography[]
The Flenory shooting[]
Detectives Lopez and Bryant head down to the Downriver Memorial Hospital after learning that Terry Flenory was shot in an alleged carjacking. They arrive to find Meech armed with a submachine gun. Lopez draws his firearm and commands Meech to drop the weapon. Before the situation can escalate, Bryant intervenes and escorts Meech to Terry, but not before first disarming him.[1]
Lopez and Bryant stop by the Flenory home to question Terry about his shooting. Lopez questions the fact that Terry arrived at the hospital in a Mercedes-Benz, suspecting that his shooting may have been retaliatory, but LaWanda claims that the car was a baby shower gift from her Uncle Troy. After being asked to leave, Lopez confronts Bryant for possibly protecting the Flenorys, but he doesn't take well to these accusations and warns Lopez to never accuse him of anything. Once they get back to the precinct, they learn that Jay Mo hasn't been seen in days and that the state police have initiated the Downriver Area Narcotics Operation, otherwise known as DRANO.[2]
Finding Jay Mo and Filmel[]
Ecorse PD have a briefing to discuss the war between the 50 Boyz and 12th Street Boys. Detective Lopez points out that Jay Mo is still missing, as is Filmel, whose aunt claims moved to North Carolina. Lopez suspects that Jay Mo was killed by Meech, but Bryant argues that he could simply be off on a binder. With Lamar Silas taking over 12th Street and having been seen leaving Downriver Memorial Hospital the night of Filmel's discharge, Commander Mars instructs them to investigate both scenarios, but their primary objective is finding Jay Mo and Filmel.[3]
After Jay Mo's body is pulled from the river, Lopez and Bryant interview a witness who claims he saw someone put Jay Mo into the back of a car. Mr. May has a way with numbers and explains that the man he saw with Jay Mo was 6'2", brown-skinned, and 28 inches across the chest. This man put Jay Mo into a Ford LTD. Lopez then shows Mr. May a line-up, but he doesn't identify anyone. The autopsy report confirms Jay Mo died from a single gunshot to the head, but Lopez reveals to Bryant that Jay Mo has two pierced ears and that they only found a single diamond stud, meaning his killer could have possibly stolen the other. After Mr. May suddenly leaves town, Lopez' suspicion on Bryant grows, so he follows his partner as he meets with Meech.[4]
Killed by Kato[]
Lopez and Commander Mars question Nicole Flenory after she was attacked and her friend was killed by who they suspect was Lamar Silas in retaliation to Meech and Terry abducting his daughter, however, Nicole claims not to know anything. Afterward, while on patrol, Lopez notices the 50 Boyz out and chases after them. While most escape, he manages to tackle Meech to the ground. However, before he can take Meech into custody, Kato sneaks up and bashes Lopez' head in from behind, resulting in his death.[5]
