Heroes is the fourth episode of the first season of the Starz original crime drama BMF.[1] It aired on October 17, 2021.
Synopsis[]
Lamar's reign of terror continues, as he works overtime to shut down "The 50 Boyz" for good.
Plot[]
Young Meech approaches Gabby and Simone in the store and tries to convince them to come to Mikey's party with him. While Simone's seems more open to the idea, Gabby turns him down. Hoping to win them over, he offers to pay for their soda and chips but is too embarrassed to pay for their items with food stamps. Not only do they laugh at Meech, they pay for his items as well. As Meech exits the store, Pat tells him to never be ashamed of who he is or where he's from. He then gives Meech a few dollars to buy something to impress the girls with.
Present day, Meech and Terry have secured a new safe house just north of 8 mile, in the suburbs. Terry then confronts Meech for paying for the mortgage on the house, as it has caused friction between their parents, resulting in their father leaving the house. Kato and Hoop unexpectedly show up with a bag of money in place of B-Mickie, who sent them over, as he was too occupied with his mother, who is in the hospital. Terry then hands Hoop the weight, but not before informing him that they only have a few days worth left.
Meech arrives at the spot to buy three keys of powder from Pat, who turns Meech down, claiming that he doesn't have the infrastructure and that Meech isn't ready. Moving forward, Meech would like to starting buying out right, but Pat refuses, instead giving Meech three bags on consignment and a brick out right. Rock leads Meech into the storage room and informs him that Pat has fallen off and that he doesn't have three keys of powder to sale even if he wanted to. Fortunately, Rock knows of another supplier should Meech be interested.
Meech returns to the car with the work and informs Terry that Pat has been getting his dope from Boom and that he's been smoking crack. So, Meech is considering finding a new supplier. However, rather than linking with Rock's connect, Meech wants to meet with K-9 from Brewsters.
Terry takes LaWanda and Nicole out shopping for baby Terry's christening, which LaWanda has to dye her hair back to its natural color for. Terry is hopeful that the event will also bring their dad back home, but Nicole is convinced otherwise. He then hands Nicole some money for her and Wanda to get what they need as he and Darius head out.
Lamar and 12th Street are out shoe shopping at Footlocker in hopes of bringing some sort of organization and “uniformality” to the crew. Ultimately, Lamar settles on Nike Cortez. By mere happenstance, Terry enters the store. Lamar and Slick approach, with the rest of the crew following their lead. Tension rises as Lamar and Terry meet each other's gaze, but when Nicole and LaWanda arrive, rather than escalate the situation, Lamar simply throws a few dollars at Terry's feet, telling him that diapers cost.
Ecorse PD have a briefing to discuss the war between the 50 Boyz and 12th Street Boys. Detective Lopez points out that Jay Mo is still missing, as is Filmel, whose aunt claims moved to North Carolina. Commander Mars suspects that with the first and second in command missing, someone is making a power play within 12th Street. Lopez suspects that Jay Mo was killed by Meech, but Detective Bryant argues that he could simply be off on a binder with his girl. With Lamar Silas taking over 12th Street and having been seen leaving Downriver Memorial Hospital the night of Filmel's discharge, Commander Mars instructs Bryant and Lopez to investigate both scenarios, but their primary objective is finding Jay Mo and Filmel.
Meech and Terry have arranged to meet K-9's connect, Big L, at a nightclub, but they've been waiting for over an hour. When a lady approaches the bar, Meech offer to buy her a drink, but she turns him down. She then looks at Terry and asks if he's buying rounds too, but he assures her that he isn't, and when she tries to make conversation, Terry excuses himself to speak to Meech. With K-9's connect having fallen through, Meech decides to go with Terry's plan and contact Rock.
Kato and Hoop are working on the food truck alongside Fonzo when they receive an unexpected visit from Lamar, Slick, and Tiny, who disrupts their flow by informing their non-drug using customers of the "Stone Burger" on the secret menu. This sends the crowd into a frenzy, forcing the 50 Boyz to close up shop early.
Meech and Terry arrange to meet Rock in the back room of a local store. Rock claims that he knows a guy out of Florida who may still be in town. Someone who dipped down south and made it big. So, the boys and Rock come to an agreement that he'll be paid 20 upfront and five points on everything going forward.
Meech arrives at Lori's after she had been paging him all night, just for him to show up a day late with some diapers and a bag of chips. Meech claims that he missed her as well as their daughter Nee-Nee, bribing his way inside with Lori's favorite candy — a box of Jujyfruits. She has the money he sent, but she insists that he didn't need to send so much, as she has money saved up. Lori then proceeds to undress and lead Meech into the bedroom.
Pastor Swift's niece Karen assesses Terry's case on a contingency basis. Terry reveals that his vision is getting worse and that his eyes get blurry. This occurred after they brought Terry back for the corrective surgery. Karen is looking to file a malpractice lawsuit, but just how long that takes can vary. The manner in which the hospital responds will tell them a lot about the seriousness of this claim, and then they can weigh the cost-benefit of pushing for more versus settling. Karen insists that she's not going to treat Terry the way the hospital did. After Karen leaves, Charles claims that she can't be trusted, which Lucille believes is due to the fact that she's Pastor Swift's niece. Charles then gets up and leaves. On his way out, Terry reminds Charles that they're a family and that he shouldn't allow his pride to tear them apart.
Meech invites Lori to baby Terry's christening, which she agrees to attend before kicking Meech out, informing him that he needs to call ahead if he wants to spend time with them.
The 50 Boyz are out in large numbers today at the factory as Kato and Hoop work the food truck. However, Hoop begins to contemplate if maybe Lamar showing up at the food truck yesterday was merely a distraction to leave the safe house unguarded.
Meech and Terry head down to David Whitney Jr. Residence to meet with Rock's connect, Ron Batten. Upon finding a table to sit, they receive drinks with a note attached, telling them to head out back, where they are approached by two gunmen, who put them into the back of a truck.
Hoop arrives at the stash house to discover that it's been ransacked. He is shot at but manages to take cover behind a wall and shoot one of the thieves in the leg. However, Lamar intervenes and opens fire with a machine gun, wounding Hoop in the shoulder. Defenseless as Lamar approaches, all hope seems lost until Kato arrives and shoots back at Lamar, forcing him to flee out the back door.
Meech and Terry are taken out into a field, where Pat and Rock await with two shovels in hand. He discovered their plan to meet with a new plug. Meech tries to take on all the blame, pleading with Pat to at least spare Terry. However, Pat blames Rock for betraying him more than he does Meech and proceeds to bludgeon him with a shovel before instructing Terry and Meech to get rid of the body.
After burying the body, Meech and Terry meet with B-Mickie and Hoop, who reveals that Lamar got them for everything. Meech blames B-Mickie for not being around to secure the stash house, but he was otherwise occupied with his mom. This leads to Meech punching B-Mickie, forcing Terry and Hoop to intervene and prevent the situation from escalating. They then begin to wonder just how Lamar knew of the stash house, if only the four of them plus Kato knew the location. Meech begins to suspect Kato is the mole, but Hoop insists that it wasn't her, as she saved his life. Instead, they consider the possibility that Lamar may have simply been following them. Hoop suggests they go after the guy he shot, as someone is hobbling around the city right now, but Terry decides that simply think and regroup instead.
Detective Bryant is called down to the harbor by an old colleague, Detective Wallace, who got a call about a body floating in the water that matches Jay Mo's description. Wallace is aware of Bryant's dirty work and wants Bryant to assure him that he's not involved in something he shouldn't be.
The Flenorys attend baby Terry's christening, organized by Pastor Swift at the Southwestern Pentecostal Church. Lori and Neeka attend as well, as promised. There, Meech and Nicole are named the child's godparents. Terry then begins to have flashes of Rock being killed by Pat and even baby Terry being buried in a shallow grave, but he quickly returns to reality, as Pastor Swift christens the child.
Before long, Jay Mo's body floats to the surface, and Detective Bryant identifies him.
Terry and LaWanda thank Pastor Swift outside the church. Meech, Lori, Nicole, Lucille, and Charles join them in preparation to attend brunch, but they are interrupted by Detectives Bryant and Lopez, who request to speak with Meech about Jay Mo, but Meech politely declines, and the Detectives leave without incident. This results in Charles reconsidering brunch and leaving.
Kato returns home, where she is ambushed by Lamar, who accuses her of trying to kill him back at the stash house when shot at him. He knocks her to the ground and places his gun in her mouth, though she swears on her father's grave that she only shot at him to make it look real. If not for her father, he would kill her, but Lamar does make a point to warn Kato never to point a gun at him again.
Kato surprises B-Mickie with a visit, offering to keep him company. She proceeds to kiss B-Mickie and asks if he has a condom as they head towards the bed.
Meech visits Bryant at his house following their previous encounter outside of the church. Bryant accuses Meech of killing Jay Mo, but Meech claims that he did no such thing. Bryant isn't convinced and warns Meech that his boss is going after everybody in the Downriver area. For the inconvenience, Meech has upped Bryant's payment, which he delivers to him in a yellow envelope. When Bryant claims that their partnership is over, Meech reminds him that they both need each other.
Lamar reads Zoe a bedtime story, "Three Little Pigs" to be exact, but with a twist that ends with the wolf eating the pigs. After Zoe falls asleep, Lamar heads out into the living room, where he gifts Monique a diamond necklace, and they have sex on the couch.
Terry meets with Big L on a street corner. Much to his surprise, Big L is a woman — the same woman from a few nights ago when he and Meech were at the nightclub. She's done her homework, and while Terry may be green, she is willing to do business with him on one condition, that being that she will only work with him directly. Terry and Big L come to an agreement and shake hands.
